View taken alongside the steps looking along Platform 7 and 8 towards Hockley with a breakdown train occupying the middle up road. The steps were brick built and also provided accommodation for station staff. Platform 7 ran up to the start of the bay platforms at which point the crossovers were sited and Platform 8 commenced for the remaining portion of the platform. The combined length of the two platforms was 1197 feet which was slightly longer than the 1188 feet of the combined length of Platforms 5 and 6 opposite. The difference in length being the curvature of the station which can be seen in this photograph.
