Ex-GWR 2-6-2T No 6109 is seen approaching Snow Hill's up through road at the head of a freight from Hockley during the early 1960s. Built at Swindon works to Lot 269 in June 1931 No 6109 remained in service until September 1962 when it was withdrawn from Didcot shed to be scrapped in November 1963 by RA King of Norwich. In between the rails of the down platform are signs numbered 12, 13 and 14 and which are approximately 60ft apart. It is suspected that this related to the number of coaches that could be accommodated in this section of the down platform. The location of the signs could only benefit the drivers of diesel locomotives with their cab being at the front.
