Once the Alcester Branch closed in March 1951, the North Curve was rarely used for operational traffic, but in addition to being used for storage, it also stabled a Royal Train on at least two occasions. On 10th March 1954 Princess Margaret stayed there overnight before travelling on to Solihull and on 23rd October 1959 Prince Phillip stayed overnight before visiting Stratford.
