This close up of image 'gwrbj764' sees the fireman letting
the water flow in to the bunker by controlling the wheel on the down pipe an
operation that had two minutes allocated on the route time. The timber cladding
to the pipe was to prevent the pipe freezing up in winter whilst the panel of
corrugated iron behind was probable a form of protection against the elements
for the fireman. Circa 1903
