GWR Route: Hatton to Bearley and Alcester Branch
Great Alne Station: gwrga803
According to S Jenkins and R Carpenter’s book 'The
Alcester Branch' this is believed to be auto trailer No.83 being hauled by an
unidentified Collett 48xx class 0-4-2T. The trailer is definitely a 70’
diagram U trailer and No.83 was known to be working from Banbury in the late
1930’s / early 1940’s. The photograph was taken from river side of
the Great Alne to Haselor road as the train approached the level crossing at
Great Alne Station.
