GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Lapworth to Henley in Arden Branch Line: gwrha3221

View of the stop blocks at the Henley in Arden end of the sidings looking south-westwards Finwood Road overbridge. The sidings and stop blocks remained in place at Rowington Junction until the construction of the M40 had it all torn away. The photograph is undated but - apart from the lack of any stored rolling stock - represents a similar situation to that recorded in my late father's (A L Maund) note of his earlier observation there on 13th October 1956: "Double track almost as far as first bridge. Carriages (?condemned) on both tracks. Underneath the bridge there was a barricade. Track overgrown." The grid reference of the stop blocks and bridge I would put at SP191686. Another photograph of the sidings, taken from Finwood Road overbridge and looking in the opposite direction, can be seen in image 'gwrha2798'.
