Chambers Crossing Halt

Chambers Crossing Halt, thought to have been of timber framed construction, was another short lived station, being in use between 1906 and 1914. It is thought that the beginning of the First World War resulted in its closure due to its low passenger volume.

As was the case with many other stations, across all railways including the GWR, such stations were easy targets. The difficulties faced by the railway companies when attempting to close such loss makers was both time consuming and costly as it required legislation to enact the closures. The outbreak of the First World War provided both an excellent excuse and resolution to the problem being catered for under the emergency legislation passed to assist in the release of resources and personnel for the war effort.

Whilst it is not impossible for a photograph to exist, as many stations were used as subject matter for postcards, the brevity of the station's life and the lack of charm a timber station would offer the photographer means that it is hardly likely that one exists.
