FOUR SPECIAL TRAINS WITH BERTRAM MILLS' CIRCUS - WALSALL TO
LEAMINGON SPA GENERAL.

Below are the schedules and formations of the four special trains which will convey Bertam Mills Circus from Walsall to Leamington Spa General on Saturday / Sunday next.

Saturday, May 22nd, 1954

This train will convey all the livestock and the vehicles are to be berthed in the Down Bay.
Horses to be watered at Leamington Spa General at 6.0 a.m. Sunday.
C.T. 1236 to be berthed with road access.
5 Bobols will be unloaded after the unloading of the Bobols on the second train.

This train will be the first to be unloaded
Bobol No 57795 to be berthed first on end dock stop block, followed by other six Bobols in any order. When these have been unloaded the five Bobols off the first train to be placed to the end dock.
CCT 1232 to be berthed on stop block of Gas Board's siding. 7 Circus employees will travel in TK 744, including Foreman Shanley, who should be contacted immediately the train arrives.

Bobol Nos 57868, 57864 and 57841 to be first on end dock stop blocks in any order, followed by the other 4 (unspecified) bobols in any order.
Circus Foreman Taylor will be in Circus vehicle No 17 and he should be contacted immediately the train arrives.

ADVANCE MOVEMENT OF "KING POLE" BETWEEN LEAMINGTON SPA GENERAL AND STRATFORD UPON AVON.

Monday and Tuesday, May 24th and 25th.

Bobol 57868 to be in position for loading on end dock at Leamington Spa General at 2.0 pm Monday, May 24th. Loaded vehicle to be despatched to Stratford upon Avon by the 7.45 pm freight hence due Stratford upon Avon 9.28 pm.

Bobol with tractor to return to Leamington Spa General by the 11.35 pm freight ex Honeybourne, Stratford upon Avon depart 12.40 am. Leamington Spa General arrive 2.20 am.

Station Masters, Leamington Spa General and Stratford upon Avon to arrange, latter in conjunction with Goods Agent.

SHUNTING POWER
Shunting engine (51XX) to be available at Leamington Spa General at 11.0 pm Saturday, May 22nd, for use as required. Relief required. Station Master, Leamington Spa General, to provide two shunters to work with this engine.
Up Yard shunting engine to be available at Leamington Spa at 3.0 am Sunday, May 23rd, to work 12 empty bobols to Warwick Down Refuge Siding. Station Master Leamington Spa General, to provide Guard.

LEAMINGTON SPA GENERAL.
The following lines and sidings to be cleared of traffic in readiness for the unloading operations:- Bay Platform line
Middle Road and Dock Sidings (both and dock facilities)
Outside Dock Sidings
Middle Gas Siding Gas Board's Private Siding.

CLEANING AND EQUIPPING OF STOCK.
All horse Boxes and S.C.V.s to be thoroughly cleaned and hosed out and lightly disinfected (but not in the mangers). The Elephant Truck (C.C.T. 1236) to be cleaned with MILD DISINFECTANT ONLY and bedding to be removed. THIS IS IMPORTANT.
T.K.S and other passenger vehicles to be cleaned and water tanks filled where necessary.

LIGHTING.
Special steps must be taken to see that the lights, both electric and gas, in all vehicles are extinguished as soon as possible after unloading.
All lighted vehicles to be charged with gas or electricity, as the case may be, prior to use on Wednesday, May 26th. It is essential that the batteries in the elephant truck (C.C.T. 1236) shall be fully charged and lighting in good order.

ADDITIONAL YARD LIGHTING.
12 Tilley lamps will be provided at Leamington Spa. District Engineer will arrange.

GAS TANK.
Additional Gas Tank to be despatched from Tyseley to Leamington Spa General to arrive no later than 9.0 am Monday, May 24th, for gassing Circus vehicles. Dostrict Motive Power Superintendent to arrange.

EXAMINATIONS.
All vehicles to be examined on arrival and any deficiencies made good. District Outdoor C. & W. Engineer to arrange.

STAFF.
Operating Department supervision - Chief Inspr. Barnes.
Station Master, Leamington Spa General, to be on duty as necessary.
Commercial Dept. will provide staff for cleaning the livestock vehicles.
Station Master, Leamington Spa, to arrange cleaning TK vehicles
C. & W. Examiner - District Outdoor C. & W. Engineer to arrange
Police. Police Supt., Birmingham, will provide Police supervision throughout the unloading operations.
Motive Power Dept. will arrange an Inspector to be on duty at Leamington Spa General.

GENERAL.
The Circus Staff unload all vehicles and animals under the supervision of Railway staff. They will also be responsible for securing trailer, shackle screws, loading plates, etc.
All traffic on Bobols is loaded on low trailers with drawbars leading on to the end dock for direct unloading.
District Commercial Superintendent will arrange for an additional set of bridging plates to be available.

District Engineer will arrange for a supply of 15 sleepers to be available at Leamington Spa, for use as required. Sand to be available for use if required on platform at Leamington Spa.
