GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Widney Manor Station: gwrwm430c

Close up showing Widney Manor's goods shed in detail and the cattle pens and head shunt for the sidings

Close up of image 'gwrwm430' showing the goods shed in detail and the cattle pens and head shunt for the sidings. The appearance of the goods shed with its steel beam supporting the opening would indicate that the structure post dates the opening of the line under Brunel's influence. Inside the entrance can be seen the landing platform projecting out with steps on either side for staff to gain access. One of the two doors used to secure the shed is seen opened flush with the gable wall and it is assumed that the other is open at ninety degrees and hidden behind the post carrying the loading gauge. In the foreground can be seen the fencing which penned the cattle for loading access to the cattle wagon being provided from the far pen.
