The main station facilities were built on the bridge that carried Wharfdale Road over the running lines. The new junction signal box, seen in the distance under the road bridge, controlled the two signals seen mounted above the lines on the rear wall of the roadside station building. Such a location would not be a problem if coloured light signalling was in adopted. However, one can only image the tortuous route the cables and rodding had to follow between the signal box and the signals on the bridge.
