View of ex-GWR 2-6-2T 'Large Prairie' No 8109 is seen standing on on of the two coaling roads at Tyseley shed having just been topped up circa 1964. Despite being a class of only ten locomotives all but one of the class saw out their last days working at sheds in the West Midlands, with No 8103 being withdrawn from Cardiff's Radyr shed. Worcester accommodated five of the locomotives, Tyseley two - No 8108 and 8109 - whilst the remaining two were allocated to Kidderminster and Leamington Spa. Built at Swindon works in November 1939 No 8109 was, like all of the class, rebuilt from earlier 51xx class locomotive and remained in service until June 1965 when it was withdrawn from Tyseley shed to be scrapped by Birds of Long Marston.
