GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Soho and Winson Green: gwrswg2293

Looking towards Wolverhampton along Soho & Winson Green station's Down Relief platform

Looking towards Wolverhampton along Soho & Winson Green station's Down Relief platform. The station building on the down relief platform appears to be the original Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Dudley (BW&D) Railway station building which was constructed in 1854. Several of the stations along the line had very similar red brick and stone two storey designs. Behind the fence on the left is the down goods line and also the pilot line which was constructed in 1933 between Hockley Goods yard and the Warehouse and Goods yard at Soho and Winson Green. These facilities were situated at the other end of the station beyond the Benson Road overbridge.
