Rebuilt West Country 4-6-2 No 34044 'Woolacombe approaches ex-GWR 0-6-0 No 2210 which is standing in the refuge siding on 14th April 1964. The West Country locomotive is a returning southbound service to Poole whilst the 0-6-0 is waiting to assist another heavy train up the long climb to Lapworth station. Originally built in October 1946 by Brighton works as 21C144, No 34044 was renumbered by British Railways in 1948 but wasn't rebuilt until May 1960 in which condition it was withdrawn in May 1967 from 71G Bath Green Path shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore's of Newport. The Collet 2251 class locomotive was built by Swindon works to Lot 322 in September 1939 and was to remain in service until June 1965 when it was withdrawn from 2D Banbury shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Great Bridge.
