GWR Route: Stratford on Avon to Hatton

Ex-GWR 2-8-0 28xx class No 2883 is seen passing through the station on a down working to the Severn Tunnel Junction on 16th August 1958. Most down freights would have been diverted into the down goods loop to provide a clear path for following passenger services and for watering. The rear of this long goods train is still on the down goods loop as it snakes its way on to the main line. Built at Swindon works in April 1919 No 2883 remained in service until December 1962 when it was withdrawn from 82D Westbury shed to be scrapped in April 1963 by Swindon works.
