Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Hall class No 4980 'Wrottesley Hall' passes ex-GWR 2-6-2T 'Large Prairie' No 5163 whilst working the 10:35am from Paignton

Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Hall class No 4980 'Wrottesley Hall' is seen passing ex-GWR 2-6-2T 'Large Prairie' No 5163 whilst working the 10:35am from Paignton to Wolverhampton service on 16th August 1958. The Prairie is standing in the up refuge siding adjacent to Stratford on Avon West Signal Box and when the express has passed will buffer up to the rear coach to provide assistance to Wilmecote. The Hall was built at Swindon works to Lot 254 in February 1930 and remained in service until July 1963 when it was withdrawn from 82C Swindon shed to be scrapped during June 1964 by J Cashmore of Newport. The Prairie was built by Swindon works just a few months later in November 1930 to Lot 259 but had just over a year left of its working life being withdrawn from 84E Tyseley shed in November 1959 to be scrapped in February 1960 by J Cashmore of Newport.
