According to the sign at the entrance on the extreme right the cars parked would have paid 1/- per day. Pre-decimal currency which used pounds, shilling and pence would be displayed on price tags using the forward slash / to separate the pounds from the shillings and pence. As an example 5 pounds, six shillings and 11 pence would be displayed as £5/6/11. A dash would be used when no unit was used hence 1/- for one shilling no pence. In instances where only pence would be charged then this would be displayed for say eleven pence as either, -/11 or 11d. In old currency there were 20 shillings to a pound and 12 pennies to a shilling. In 1971 when decimilisation was brought in a shilling was the equivalent to 5 New Pence.
