GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Leamington Spa Station: gwrls242

The station was originally built with two running lines, one in each direction adjacent to each platform, and two sidings between them in the middle of the station for holding coaching stock. Access was available to the middle sidings from both ends. John Copsey writes 'At a traffic Committee meeting in December 1909, it was reported that work on carriage sidings had been put in hand, and a proposal was made that the two middle sidings through the station, used for stock storage, would be replaced by through running lines'. Above we can see the P & W gang lifting the middle sidings in preparation for laying the two through roads. C1910
