GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Hatton Station: gwrhj1935

Looking north from the passenger footbridge towards Station Road and Hatton South Junction

Looking north from the passenger footbridge towards Station Road and Hatton South Junction. The date stated on the photograph is circa 1950 which is interesting as the station nameboard on the right reads Hatton Junction for Bearley & Stratford on Avon whereas the nameboard at the other end of the island platform seen in the 1956 image 'gwrhj1934' incorporated the full pre-Second World War nameboard with Alcester blanked out. The corporate signage erected by British Railways circa 1954-5 resulted in the station nameboard showing only the name Hatton as seen in image 'gwrhj1877'. The signal on the right is of interest as it faces the opposite way expected of signals controlling up traffic. This is because it controlled trains required to reverse either into the up refuge loop or into the siding located behind the up platform seen on the right.
