View looking along the length of Icknield Street as it passes under Hockley station and goods yard in the 1960s. A Brewery lorry and a policeman on a horse are seen entering Icknield Street from Pitsford Street. The 'bridge' carrying the railway over Icknield Street was over 300 feet in length and the building seen above was the Delivery Office responsible for the distribution of the goods arriving at Hockley. The route via Icknield Street was a major thoroughfare, providing access to the streets beyond including Park Road, which provided access to the Round yard, and further on to Lodge Road. This junction also marked the lowest point along Pitsford Street as it starts to climb in both directions.
