GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton
Hockley Station: gwrhd674
An internal view of Hockley's last Account's Office which
was located adjacent to the Main Offices. The original offices were destroyed
in the air raid on Birmingham on 12th December 1940. They were rebuilt (see
image 'gwrhd696') and were probably warmer and more
comfortable than the its Victorian predecessor. Photographed in the last year
of Hockley's working life it is clear that the scale of business has declined
in the last decade. On the left and through the internal windows is the Cartage
Office where the distribution and collection duties were managed.
