Ex-WD 'Austerity' 2-8-0 No 90589 is seen at the head of a down freight train on 1st December 1951. Built as WD No 7142 by Vulcan Foundry in January 1943, No 90589 was given its British Railways number in February 1949 which it carried until April 1964 when it was officially withdrawn from 16E Kirkby in Ashfield shed although it was reallocated to 1G Woodford Halse shed week ending 18th April 1964 before being scrapped by Crewe works during June 1964.
