GWR Route: Birmingham and Henley in Arden Railway Company

Lapworth to Henley in Arden Branch Line: gwrha260

An elevated view of the abandoned branch line looking in the direction of Henley in Arden some forty plus years after the track had been lifted in 1917. The closure of the branch was a slow process following the opening of the North Warwickshire line on 1st July 1908. Passengers services ceased from the original station but some still were routed over the branch from the new station. The service declined and as a wartime economy measure passenger services over the branch officially ceased on 22nd March 1915 which was soon followed by goods traffic leading to the line being closed with the track lifted by mid-1917.
