GWR Route: Banbury to Wolverhampton

Looking along the former SMJ lines to Stratford upon Avon on 23rd June 1966 with a freight service waiting on the right in the down passing loop line. The missing signal arm on the gantry allowed eastbound trains to proceed towards Towcester. The locomotive is British Railways Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 No 92247 which had been built by Crewe works in December 1958 and was only to last in service until October 1966 when it was withdrawn from 9D Newton Heath shed to be scrapped by Drapers of Hull.
