GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Earlswood Lakes Station: gwrel2864a
Close up of image 'gwrel2864' showing the down platform and
the large number of lanterns and lampposts used to light the station. These
would in all probability have been equipped with oil lamps which would have
been the responsibility of the junior porter to light and maintain each day. In
addition to lighting each evening he would be required to top up the oil and to
trim the wicks as well as clean the glass. Stations on the North Warwickshire
Railway had their name painted on top of at least one of the panes of
glass.
