GWR Route: North Warwickshire Line
Danzey for Tanworth Station: gwrdt663
View from the up platform of the basic passenger facilities
located on the down platform of Danzey for Tanworth station circa 1964. The
building constructed from asbestos (Eternit) sheeting only provided passengers
with a single waiting room. On the left hand side wall are two fire buckets
which would be filled with either sand or water, a necessary precaution in the
days of steam locomotives which would eject from their chimneys hot glowing
embers of coal. The building is beginning to show its age as demonstrated by
the repaired corrugated sheeting by the door and the broken window to the left
of the British Railways station sign totem sign fixed to the wall. Immediately
above the BR totem can be seen a bracket used to suspend a Tilley Lamp to light
up the station's name at night.
