Ex-GWR 4-6-0 Hall class No 6937 'Conyngham Hall' is seen standing at Platform 5 whilst at the head of a down Class A express service on 8th August 1964. Built at Swindon works during the Second World War in July 1942 No 6937 did not receive its name until October 1946. Its first shed was Oxford where it was recorded as being allocated in both August 1950 and March 1959. Fitted with a 3 row superheater No 6937 was allocated to Didcot shed in May 1965 although by December 1965 it was allocated to Oxford shed from where it was withdrawn in December 1965 to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Newport.
