Ex-LMS 4-6-2 Princess Coronation class No 46237 'City of Bristol' is seen standing at Platform 6 on a down express service in May 1955. Built as LMS No 6237 at Crewe works in August 1939 in streamlined condition No 46237 had its streamlining removed after the Second World War and in this condition remained in service until September 1964 when it was withdrawn from Upperby shed in Carlisle to be scrapped in January 1965 by Arnott & Young, West of Scotland Shipbreaking Company of Troon.
