GWR Route: Hatton to Bearley and Alcester Branch
Bearley Station: gwrb772a
Close up of image 'gwrb772' showing the goods wagons being
shunted forward into the goods yard by the 0-4-2T locomotive. The guard or
shunter is standing on the Brake Van calling forward the driver in order to
place what is thought to be a horse box into the siding. Behind the engine is a
covered goods van (MINK), one of the ubiquitous Iron Minks, which
were popular for the transport of flour because their iron construction
protected the contents against rodents (On the Alcester Branch there were a
couple of large mills). The brake van (TOAD) is probably the Branch 16 ton
Brake Van No35860 (diagram AA3) built c1900.
