Philip Hawkins FGRA: ph9

Ex-LMS 'Patriot' class 4-6-0 No. 45509 'The Derbyshire Yeomanry' and ex-LMS 'Jubilee' 4-6-0 No. 45682 'Trafalgar' with southbound trains

Low Level Departure - Philip Hawkins, Fellow of the Guild Railway Artists

Not from within the county but as it was yet another view of the northbound Cornishman we couldn't resist including it. The painting portrays ex-GWR 4-6-0 No 1004 'County of Somerset' having set back on to the train to take the service forward to Penzance at 9:15am, with 0-6-0PT No 8411 and 2-6-2T No 5151 seen on either side. Built by Swindon works to 358 in October 1945, No 1004 was to remain in service until September 1962 when it was withdrawn from 83G Penzance shed to be scrapped by J Cashmore of Newport.
