Nechells Power Station: nechells166

Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn 0-6-0T No 3, Works No 7537, and Peckett 'W6' class 0-4-0ST No 2, Works No 1478, stand stationary

Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn 0-6-0T No 3 (Works No 7537) and Pecket 'W6' class 0-4-0ST No 2 (Works No 1478) stand stationary, while Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn 0-6-0T No 4 (Works No 7684) brings more loaded mineral wagons along the private line from the Washwood Heath Marshalling Yard. Anticipating heavier loads these two Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn 0-6-0T locomotives were introduced by the CEGB during the construction of Nechells B Power Station. Both were purchased for preservation by the Shacklerstone Railway Society when steam operation stopped at the site in June 1972. Originally two Peckett 0-4-0ST locomotives worked the Nechells A Power Station, but with the construction of Nechells B Power Station, No 2 was sent to Hams Hall Power Station circa 1950. Locomotive No 2 had returned by 1957 and continued working at Nechells Power Station until the end of steam at the site, being scrapped in June 1972.
