View of a section of bullhead rail which was primarily found in the exchange sidings between the EHLR and the SMJ. Despite the chair being marked 'London' Colin Maggs states that most of the chairs used to hold the bullhead rail was from the Hull and Barnsley Railway. Colin also states that the majority of the rails laid elsewhere on the EHLR were flat-bottom rails spiked direct to the sleepers. The weight of the locomotives is thought to be the reason why bullhead rail was fitted in the sidings.
