A pair of English Electric Type 3 Diesel-electrics, D6825 and D6840 pass through Rugby en route from	Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn

A pair of English Electric Type 3 Diesel-electrics, D6825 and D6840 pass through Rugby en route from Robert Stephenson & Hawthorn Ltd to be delivered to Canton shed in Cardiff in May 1963. Ordered as part of the British Rail modernisation plan they were later to be classified under TOPs as Class 37 locomotives. D6825 was to remain in service for thirty-two years being withdrawn as 37904 in April 1996 from TI Tinsley MPD to be scrapped by CF Booth of Rotherham (it had been renumbered as 37125 in January 1973 and then as 37904 in 1986). Classmate D6840 had an even longer period in service lasting thirty-eight years being withdrawn as 37140 in July 2001 from TI Tinsley MPD to be cut up by English, Welsh & Scottish Railways at Wigan.
