Ex-MR 0-4-4T No 1427 stands coaled and fully serviced outside the shed ready for the following morning's turn. The Class 2228 locomotives were fitted with steam heating for the passenger train working on the line. They were very well received by the men of the former S&MJR but unfortunately their stay was brief, probably due to low water capacity. Built as MR No 2627 by Dubbs and Company in September 1900, the locomotive was renumbered as No 1427 in July 1907 which it retained until July 1935 when it was withdrawn from 7 Gloucester Barnwood to be scrapped.
