View of the 1938 OS map showing the SMJ station and shed on the right and the line to Broom crossing the GWR line to Honeybourne. On the left is the GWR's line to Honeybourne which is seen passing beneath the SMJ's single track line to Broom. The GWR provided racegoers with a small facility named 'Stratford on Avon Race Course Platform' although on the OS map it is reffered to as a Halt. The 1960 connection between the former SMJ route to Fenny Compton and the ex-GWR route to Honeybourne was located to the right of the Race Course Platform as seen in image 'gwr_src1436'. This spur was intended to shorten the route for Midlands to South Wales mineral traffic and to allow closure of both the SMJ to the West of Stratford Upon Avon as well as the former Midland Railway route between Redditch and Evesham.
