LMS Route: The Shakespeare Route

Looking towards Wellesbourne Road bridge and beyond to Fenny Compton shortly after the station closed to passengers. A porter's barrow can be seen standing up beneath the single lamp fixed to the corner of the signal box. Careful observation shows a man and a woman standing at the far end of the platform to Fenny Compton, presumably part of the group visiting the station with the photographer. There are two crossovers visible from the passing loop on the right to the single 'main' line on the left. The crossover beneath the bridge was the start of the passing loop which ran into the right hand up platform, the trackwork continuing on the right was a refuge siding of some length as can be seen in the 1905 Ordnance Survey map and the schematic drawing of the post-1925 plan of Kineton station. The crossover immediately in front of the photographer is not seen in the 1884 Ordnance Survey map but is seen in the 1905 Ordnance Survey map.
