Close up of image 'smjfc179' showing the ex-E&WJR station which had been closed for several years by the time this photograph was taken. The station is frozen in time as it still has evident its LMS name boards or 'running -in boards' to use the correct technical description. The station closed on 7th April 1952 and this was just a little early for it to receive British Railway's corporate signage which was implemented in the West Midlands between 1953 to 1955. The evidence of new sleepers lying on both platforms indicates that the line is being renewed, probably as part of the work associated with the running of iron ore trains to South Wales via the new curve installed at Stratford Old Town in 1960 connecting it to the GWR Honeybourne line.
