All of the E&WJR's signalling equipment was supplied by the Railway Signal Company of Fazakerley in Liverpool which included a novel and innovative token system adopted for the single line route, a surprising development for a line which suffered from being under funded. The later replacement, built by the LMS in 1931, was sited on the opposite platform and was a Midland pattern box but controlled both the LMS and GWR lines.
