Ex-GWR 43xx class 2-6-0 No 6368 pilots ex-GWR 2251 class 0-6-0 No 2246 on the LCGB Thames, Avon and Severn Rail Tour on 12th October 1963

Ex-GWR 43xx class 2-6-0 No 6368 pilots ex-GWR 2251 class 0-6-0 No 2246 on the LCGB Thames, Avon and Severn Rail Tour on 12th October 1963. The train is just passing through the remodelled junction to enter the former SMJ route to Stratford on Avon. On the right the loading gauge can be seen protecting Fenny Compton's small goods yard. Built at Swindon works to Lot 230 in October 1925, No 6368 was not to remain in service for much longer being withdrawn in December 1963 from Horton Road shed in Gloucester to be scrapped in April 1965 by the Steel Supply Company of Jersey Marine in Swansea. The former GWR 0-6-0 No 2246 was built at Swindon to Lot 347 in August 1945 and it too was withdrawn in December 1963 but this time from Worcester shed to be scrapped in April 1964 by RA King of Norwich.
