Water Orton Station: mrwo1755

A rather superior detached residence was provided for the station master at Water Orton in 1908 coinciding with the building of the new station. The original station masters house was demolished as part of the rebuilding of the station hence it needed to be completed prior to the original house's demolition. The 'suburban' tudor image of the property greatly enhanced its appearance. Could it be the Midland Railway wanted to maintain the standards set by the affluent residents of this district on the eastern outskirts of Birmingham?
