Looking north through the arches of the ornamental stone road bridge crossing cutting No 1, on Lord Norton's property

Looking north through the arches of the ornamental stone road bridge crossing cutting No 1, on Lord Norton's property. This is a skew bridge at an angle of 52.45 degrees, comprising two segmental arches each of 26ft span. In accordance with Lord Norton's wishes, it is built of fine Derbyshire stone. A short distance to the south there is a bridge of similar design, the parapets of which are formed of the stone left over from the former; otherwise it is composed of brindled brickwork.
