Former LMS 4P 4-4-0 Compound No 41180 together with a trio of former LMS 2-8-0 Stanier 8Fs are seen in steam with smoke rising from their chimneys on 3rd August 1955. The Compound was built as LMS No 1180 by the Vulcan Foundry in December 1925 and remained in service until March 1957 when it was withdrawn from Saltley shed to be scrapped by Derby works. However, the Stanier 8F was ordered by the War Department and was built by the Southern Railway's Brighton works in February 1944 and remained in service until June 1968 when it was withdrawn from Newton Heath shed in Manchester to be scrapped by Drapers Limited of Hull in September 1968.
