Ex-LMS 4MT 2-6-4T No 42419 is seen standing on Saltley shed's scrap line on 25th March 1964. The broken glass to the cab front and side windows show that the shed wasn't immune from vandalism. The class was designed by Sir Henry Fowler, considered by many as one of his better designs, but by the end of 1933 Stanier's influence had started to appear, the most obvious being the glazed cab. Built at Derby works to Lot 101 in December 1933, No 42419 had been withdrawn from 2E Saltley shed in November 1963.
