LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

British Railways Type 4 D1584 is seen standing in front of Saltley shed's No 3 roundhouse. Built at Crewe works to Lot 400, D1584 entered in to traffic on 16th May 1964 and was initially allocated to 87E Swansea Landore MPD. Although it was intially allocated the number 47531 under TOPs, it never carried it being upgraded and therefore allocated the number 47531 on 21st May 1974. It carried three further numbers: 47974 on 11th June 1990, 47531 on 24th June 1992 and 47775 on 1st December 1993 before being scrapped at Crewe works on 21st April 2006.
