LMS Route: Birmingham New Street to Tamworth

Ex-LMS 8F 2-8-0 No 48376 having been coaled is seen standing over the ashpit having its firebox emptied of ash. The ash will be lifted upwards in a skip to be tipped into the steel open wagon standing under the ash plant. Built by Horwich works in November 1944 No 48376 was to remain in service until July 1967 when it was withdrawn from 9L Buxton shed.
