Three sets of two-car Diesel Multiple Units form this holiday excursion from Birmingham New Street to Malvern on 8th July 1956. The Derby Lightweight DMU's, designed by RA Riddles, preceded the 1956 modernisation plan and were introduced in 1954. The units were built in various formations, including 12 power-twin two-car units, 84 power-trailer two-car units, and 4 four-car units. The 2 single car units were originally built as a two-car unit and then split two years later when demand came about.
