Duddeston Road: mrdr1001

Ex-LMS 5MT 4-6-0 No 44828 is seen approaching Duddeston Road signal box with an Ordinary train for New Street station. According to Bob Essery the lines seen to the right of the Black Five are, from left to right, down Camp Hill, up Camp Hill and Second down goods line. One must assume that this is the description of the line nearer to Saltley Junction as this line (on the right by itself) can be seen in image 'mrdr996a' only providing access to Saltley Shed. Built at Crewe works in July 1944 No 44828 was to remain in service until September 1967 when it was withdrawn from 55A Holbeck shed.
