Close up of image 'mrch864' showing Camp Hill Goods and Grain Warehouse and the main sidings in the yard on 22nd August 1954. One shunting engine was rostered to service Camp Hill. Bob Essery recalls that at the time of nationalisation (1948) this locomotive was a Class 1F 0-6-0T but this was to be replaced by the ubiquitous 0-6-0 Diesel shunter. Arriving on the Monday morning the Diesel was able to stay at Camp Hill for the whole week being manned by men out stationed from Saltley shed. In addition to the facilities seen above, there was a small coal wharf at Highgate Road which was on the Brighton Road side of Camp Hill station.
