View of Birmingham Central Goods Station's signal box following closure as seen on 30th September 1967. AE Overton wrote in his article on Birmingham Central Goods Station in Issue No17 of the Midland Record, 'Worcester Wharf signal box is thought to have contained a 24 lever frame when it first opened. Except for an Annett's Key lock, provided on the lever frame in conjunction with the locking of Cemetery Siding lever stage, the box remained virtually unaltered until closure. The old branch train staff, with an Annette's Key attached, seems to have been used during the 1890s for working trains to and from the Cemetery siding, but this was probably superseded by the new style of a short T-shaped key at some later date'.
