Looking along the station's up platform which has very little furniture evident other than the bench seat on the left. Above, hanging from beneath the canopy, are signs indicating the platform number and the location of the Ladies Room and Gentlemen's toilets/ Being of a maroon background with white letter the signs were erected by British Railways circa 1954 reflecting the then corporate style. The sign fixed to the wall on the left displaying the number '3' is a black numeral on a white background and was the new 1960s British Rail corporate style, the omission of 'ways' being thought to be more modern. The sign was for drivers of three-car Diesel Multiple Units indicating where they should stop in attempt to help passengers to stand at an appropriate place. There would be a similar sign further down the platform with the number '6'.
