LMS Route: Evesham to Birmingham
Broom Junction Station: mrbj537c
Close up of 'image mrbj537' showing Broom Junction's main
station building housing the simple booking office, waiting rooms and toilets.
The grounded coach body on the left was used to provide storage facilities for
the station staff. In front of the coach body stands a porter with a large
wheeled porter's trolley carrying a trunk of luggage. The gentlemen's urinals
were located in the flat roof structure and, unlike the ladies facilities, were
accessed directly from the platform. The ladies toilets were accessed from the
ladies only waiting room. Comparing this view with that seen in image 'mrbj150a', which taken some thirty years later, shows
little has changed, although the coach body has been replaced with another and
positioned further to the left, the station name board changed to a different
time and the floral display removed.
